I’m sure people have been hearing in the news about Jenna Talackova, the transgender woman from Canada who was told she couldn’t compete in the Miss Universe pageant because she was born a man.
Well, she didn’t just take being defeated like that. She fought back, and now, they’re getting ready to change the rules to allow others like Talackova to compete.

I just read this really cool article about a bishop in Europe who joined a pro-gay summit. He’ll be one of the people speaking at it about same-sex marriage, and an equality legislation.

There is me on the left in the gray!

Many people are unhappy that Starbucks has taken a pro-gay rights stance.

Starbucks has started a “public campaign to rewrite our marriage laws to recognize same-sex marriage”.

It’s nice to see another large company, like Starbucks, on board for gay rights!

Recently, news of Chick-Fil-A coming to campus at SDSU has been thrown around.

At first glance, this looked great! Chick-fil-a has some great food! But on a closer look, what type of things does Chick-fil-a value?

Every year, Chick-fil-a donates a lot of money to different organizations. Organizations that show Chick-fil-a’s priorities and values. Organizations that lead to showing that the lovely chicken restaurant might be anti-gay, or at least supporting anti-gay values.

According to an article on Huffington Post, in 2009, Chick-fil-a donated $2 million to organizations like Marriage & Family Legacy Fund, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Christian Foundation, Focus on the Family, Eagle Forum, Exodus International, and Family Research Council. All of which are known to be against either homosexuality in general, or equal rights for gay people.

The anti-gay values of this establishment has lead to the removal of Chick-fil-a from many campuses nationwide. They believe that having an establishment like Chick-fil-a on their campus doesn’t promote inclusiveness and diversity.

So, while the main intent of Chick-fil-a is just to serve tasty chicken, do we really want to be giving our money to a place that will give that money to places that are working against gay rights?

The producer, Nina Jacobson, who has been named by Forbes Magazine as one of the 100 Most powerful women, just watched the release of the most highly anticipated movie of the spring.

The Hunger Games opened on March 23rd and is already extremely successful.

Nina Jacobson has also been the producer of Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

I bolded a few that I felt were interesting. As a whole, I feel like most of the people on this list are the less known famous gay people.
For example, everyone knows about people like Ellen DeGeneres. But I don’t think many people knew about Emily Dickinson.
